MT. VERNON – Exactly one week after her arrest on drug and child endangerment charges, a 35-year-old Mt. Vernon woman finds herself back in the Jefferson County Jail on new charges.
Mt. Vernon Police arrested Kaysie Belmont just after midnight Monday morning on charges of possessing less than 5 grams of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of cannabis by a vehicle’s driver.
Bond remains to be set and formal charges set in the case. Belmont was free on bail in last week’s case charging her with possession of less than 5 grams of meth and causing a child to be endangered.
Mt. Vernon Police arrested Belmont in the earlier case after a patrol officer reportedly discovered her passed out behind the wheel of her car in the early morning hours of Feb. 20 with two children inside.
The strong smell of burned cannabis reportedly resulted in that officer removing Belmont from the vehicle and discovering meth and Sudafed inside.
