Carmi Police Report

CARMI – The following information was released by the Carmi Police Department on Wednesday, June 9, 2021

On 06/08/21 at approximately 2:00 p.m., 38-year-old male Randall Flowers of Maunie was stopped in the 700 block of 6th St. and arrested for Driving While License Revoked and Unlawful Display of License Plate not Authorized on Vehicle. Flowers was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Synthetic Cannabis), Unlawful Use of Property and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Flowers was also wanted on a White County Warrant for Reckless Conduct and DWLR. A passenger in the vehicle, 30-year-old female Charley J. Buchanan of Maunie, was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Synthetic Cannabis), Unlawful Use of Property and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Buchanan tried to place ownership for the Synthetic Cannabis, which was in a metal tin, on her 5-year-old daughter who was also with her. She had her daughter tell the Officers that the Synthetic Cannabis was her cut lawn grass that she plays with. A smaller plastic container of the same Synthetic Cannabis was found in Buchanan’s pocket along with 2 one-hitter pipes with burnt residue.

On 06/08/21 at approximately 7:55 p.m., 52-year-old male Mark Hall of Carmi was arrested at 707 Marguerite St. on a White County Warrant for Theft (Under $500 with Prior). The amount of the bond on the warrant was $1,000 cash.

On 06/08/21 at approximately 8:44 p.m., 30-year-old female Jamie Miles of Carmi was arrested at 503 Maple Street on a White County Warrant for Aggravated Battery of a Peace Officer and Resisting a Peace Officer. Bond was set at $5,000 cash.

On 06/07/21 at approximately 3:15 p.m., a 19-year-old female in the 600 block of 6th street reported a possible solicitation. She stated an older male driving a silver/gray SUV approached her asking is she knew where there were 2 females that were giving massages. The male was told she did not know who that would be. The male then asked the female to get into the vehicle and she would be paid for giving a massage. The female left the area and called police. The registration on the vehicle was believed to be PAW36. After speaking with neighbors, it was learned the male had approached other females in the area and some believed the male was watching children. A complaint was signed. No other reports of the vehicle from anyone else. The public is encouraged to be aware and call police immediately.

On 06/07/21 at approximately 6:32 p.m., 47 year old male Kevin Bowers of Carmi reported he was the victim of an identity theft that occurred over Facebook and What’sApp. A complaint was signed.

On 06/07/21 at approximately 3:11 p.m., Carmi Township Road Commissioner, 44- year-old male Christopher McEwing of Carmi, reported that one of the township Ford F250 trucks had the catalytic converter stolen sometime between Friday afternoon and Monday morning. The theft occurred at the Township Yard.

On 06/07/21 at approximately 9:05 a.m., 59-year-old male Michael James of Carmi reported the theft of an Acetylene Gas Cylinder from Mr. Muffler. He advised that two younger males picked up the tank and drove off without paying. He said the males were in a silver Toyota truck and the number 121 is written at the top of the black tank. The tank stands about waist high.
