HARRISBURG – The Saline County Sheriff’s Office has released information into their attempt to serve an out of state warrant on a man in the Carrier Mills area this week.
According to information from the Sheriff’s Office at Saline County Facebook page, when the sheriff’s office attempted to serve the warrant Wednesday, the man fled on foot and was not able to be found.
Then on Thursday, a Saline County deputy spotted the man outside of Carrier Mills and was able to take him into custody, without incident. The man had been living in Saline County for over a year and law enforcement has had no contact with him or complaints on him. The man was regularly traveling from Carrier Mills to Mississippi to attend his court dates. The sheriff’s office learned of his recently issued warrant earlier in the week and began the process of locating him and taking him into custody.
The sheriff’s office searches for people with active warrants daily. It is a common practice for people with active warrants to run from the police and this occurs in Saline County on nearly a weekly basis. Because the location that this subject decided to run in was a rural area, the sheriff’s office requested additional officers to assist in the search.
The Sheriff’s Office did not provide any information on social media because there was no information that indicated this subject was a threat to the public, he simply did not want to go to jail. If there is a situation where the public is in danger, the sheriff’s office will let the public know about the incident and any areas that need to be avoided. This routine warrant arrest did not meet the threat level needed for public notice.
