HERRIN – The Herrin Fire Department responded to a house fire early Friday morning.

Officials say when firefighters arrived, they found the home fully engulfed in flames, and being fueled by winds, a neighboring house was in danger of catching fire.

The residents who lived in the home woke up and were able to get out unharmed. Firefighters were able to keep the neighboring house from catching fire.

The State Fire Marshal is investigating.
