SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – Severe storms rolled through parts of Southern Illinois overnight bringing with them heavy rains, wind and some severe thunderstorm warnings, a tornado watch and warning.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, winds caused a tree to fall through a roof on a home on Raleigh Road in Eldorado. A tree was also down there on a trailer on Dewey Street and power lines were down in town. Several trees and large limbs were reported on houses in Eldorado. Trees were reported down around town in Raleigh.

In Gallatin County, numerous reports of trees and power lines down in the county. Nearly 900 customers lost power.

Franklin County Emergency Management tells us there were sporadic power outages and some downed limbs in Zeigler. No major structural damage was reported.

Forecasters say the chance of thunderstorms returns to the region Tuesday night and increases for Wednesday into early Thursday. Multiple rounds of severe weather with damaging winds are possible. Heavy rain and flash flooding are also serious concerns.

Daily chances of thunderstorms are forecast Thursday through Sunday, but the best chance will be Friday night into Saturday morning. Locally heavy rainfall and lightning will be the primary concerns. 

A Lake Wind Advisory is in effect until 5 this afternoon.

West winds around 15 mph are expected.

Strong winds and rough waves on area lakes will create hazardous conditions for small craft.
