MARION – The City of Marion says starting Wednesday morning at 7, contracted crews will begin replacing water mains along West Main between the Square and Granite Street. Due to the water main construction, the westbound lane of Main Street will be closed to traffic for two weeks.

Following the closure of West Main, water mains along the perimeter of Tower Square Plaza will be replaced forcing staggered parking closures for the next few months.

Residents are encouraged to utilize one of the many free parking spaces in the downtown area to continue to access businesses throughout downtown during the parking interruptions.

The City encourages motorists to proceed slowly through Tower Square and follow detour signs as posted.
