
CENTRALIA – A Centralia man was arrested after fleeing from Illinois State Police during a motorist assist call on I-57 in Franklin County around 9:50 Thursday morning.
According to ISP, a Troop 10 officer stopped for a motorist assist on the side of the road at milepost 75 on southbound I-57. As the officers was speaking with the occupants, the male passenger gave the officer a false name. During the encounter the male passenger ran from the vehicle and into a wooded area.
With the help of Illinois Department of Natural Resource officers and officers from several other agencies, a perimeter was set-up. ISP K9s were used to assist. The suspect, 27-year-old Darius G. Brown of Centralia, was taken into custody at 1 p.m. ISP learned that Brown had a warrant from McLean County and was charged with Resisting Arrest and Obstruction of Justice. Brown was transported to and lodged in the Franklin County Jail.
ISP says no further information is available.
