HERRIN – A death investigation in underway in Herrin after a dead man was found in the 100 block of South 12th Street early Monday morning.

The Herrin Police Department is investigating and is being assisted by the Williamson County Major Case Squad, the Williamson County State’s Attorney’s Office and Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigators.

Herrin Police Chief David Dorris says the crime scene is contained to a single location and there does not appear to be any further threat to public safety. The chief says this is an ongoing investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
