CARBONDALE – The City of Carbondale invites you to attend an update on the Cedar Lake Recreation Plan and contribute your feedback toward upcoming revisions Thursday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at City Hall on South Illinois Avenue.

At the meeting, City staff and plan design consultants will present the draft plan and welcome your feedback.

This is the second public input opportunity for the Cedar Lake Recreation Plan. Based on comments received at the first meeting on Feb. 7, the City created this updated draft plan to be considered at Thursday’s meeting.

The Cedar Lake Recreation Plan outlines how the City will use and improve the City-owned portion of Cedar Lake, including Poplar Camp Beach, the Carbondale boat launch, some existing trails, and forested open space.

This plan will guide the City in providing long-term low-impact recreation opportunities for residents and visitors. City staff have been working on this project since October 2022, and are excited to share their progress with you.

If you can’t make it, please email your comments to maryjeanne@hutchisonsolutionsllc.com by April 17. The City will consider all comments and present an official recreation plan to the Council this spring.
