
METROPOLIS – The following information was released by the Metropolis Police Department on Monday, February 7, 2023.
January 27, 2023
Metropolis officers were called to a domestic disturbance at a residence on W. 6th St. Upon arrival, both parties stated that they were struck and/or bit by the other. The sergeant determined that the primary aggressor was Aaron L. Brian, 31, of Metropolis. Brian was arrested for Domestic Battery and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
A Metropolis officer stopped a maroon Ford Explorer on U.S. 45 At Mary’s Lane for speeding, 66 mph in a 45 mph zone. A computer check on the driver, Arath Tomas, 23, of Asheville, NC revealed that his driver’s license was suspended. Tomas was charged with both offenses and released on bond.
While on patrol, a Metropolis officer observed Michael P. Shappard, 41, of Metropolis walking on down the street. The officer was aware that Shappard was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for escape. Shappard was arrested at 9th and Broadway without incident. Shappard was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
February 1, 2023
Metropolis officers were dispatched to a fight in progress in the 800 block of Catherine St. Numerous callers stated two males were fighting in the street. Upon arrival, a Metropolis officer asked one of the males, what his name was and he became instantly belligerent and started swearing at the officer and refused to identify himself. He was given multiple chances to comply and was advised he would be arrested if he did not comply. He continued to refuse to cooperate. The subject was advised he was under arrest for obstructing justice. He then began to resist arrest and tried to break away from the officer and reengage with the other male he had been fighting with. Once in custody, he was transported to the Massac County Detention Center where he refused to exit the police car. He was finally brought into the booking area. A Massac County corrections officer recognized the subject. David M. Littlemeyer, 38, of Metropolis was charged with Obstructing and Resisting Arrest.
February 5, 2023
Joshua L. Tabor, 34, of Metropolis was arrested in the 400 block of W. 12th St. Tabor was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for FTA-Theft. Tabor was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
