MACEDONIA – Daniel Elmer Halliday, 74, of Macedonia, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026.

Cremation has been requested, and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Halliday was born Feb. 12, 1951, in Pontiac, Mich., the son of Elmer Slivester Halliday and Zelda Marie (Bell) Halliday. He married Loretta Ann Beck on May 31, 1969, and she survives. They shared 56 years of marriage.

He was a retired registered nurse. During his career, he worked for Franklin Skilled Care Nursing Unit in Benton and later for DaVita Dialysis in West City.

He was an active member of Jackson Grove Baptist Church in Benton, where he served as a worship leader and janitor. He also participated in the Love Packages Ministry in Butler and enjoyed nature and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta Halliday of Macedonia; a daughter, Katie Wayman and husband Matthew of Christopher; two grandchildren, Harper Wayman and Spencer Wayman; a sister, Sharon Hodge and husband Richard of Auburn Heights, Mich.; a sister-in-law, Trish Halliday of Benton; and several nieces, nephews, friends and church family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Mike Halliday.

The Leffler Funeral Home of Benton is in charge of the cremation arrangements.
