MCLEANSBORO – Glenn Allen Miller, 80, of McLeansboro, Illinois, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026.
He was born Nov. 5, 1945, in Coles County, Illinois, to George and Irene Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Carl Miller.
Miller was raised on a cattle and grain farm in Toledo, Illinois. He graduated from Neoga High School and earned a degree in industrial arts from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston in 1966.
He married Karin Miller on March 1, 1968. They shared 57 years of marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Karin Miller; two children, De’Ann Kristine Kimmel (Joe) and Stephen Marc Allen Miller (Alisha); 12 grandchildren: Kristin, Karrington, Kourtland, Katherine, Kooper, Kolton and Kennedy Kimmel, and Mackenzee, Whitley, Braxton, Colebie and Shelbie Miller; a brother-in-law, Craig Miller (Connie); sisters-in-law, Debbie Campbell and Nancy Miller; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Miller was a lifelong educator and community servant. Known affectionately by students as “Sarge,” he taught industrial arts at McLeansboro High School for 35 years and also drove a school bus. He retired in 2001. He was proud of his role in shaping future generations and emphasized faith, family and patriotism.
A devoted Christian, Miller was baptized at age 13 and served as an elder at the McLeansboro Church of Christ, where he was a faithful and active member. He also dedicated many years to the Little Egypt Christian Youth Camp in Dahlgren, Illinois.
In his spare time, he enjoyed farming, volunteering, fixing and building projects, and spending time with family. He was known for his strong work ethic, servant’s heart and quiet faith.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2026, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026, at the funeral home, with Pastor Jacob Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Marys Chapel Cemetery.
