BELLE RIVE – Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Mt. Vernon man after illegal drugs were found in his truck during a traffic stop for a traffic violation on Illinois 142 near Gothic Lane in rural Jefferson County early Saturday morning.

According to the sheriff’s office, it was determined that 53-year-old Boren R. Johnson was wanted on a Franklin County warrant for Failure to Appear on an illegal drug charge. He was taken into custody on the warrant. The illegal drugs found during a search of his truck were taken into evidence.

Johnson was arrested for Illegal Possession of Methamphetamine and on the warrant. He was booked into the Jefferson County Jail and awaits a pre-trial detention hearing.
