METROPOLIS – The Metropolis Police Department released the following information on Monday, Dec. 2, 2024.

November 21, 2024
James B. Padgett, 57, of Metropolis was arrested in the 1300 block of Girard. Padgett was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Theft. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

November 23, 2024
Metropolis officers were called to the area of Ferry and 12th St. The caller stated that a vehicle had driven into his yard and the driver was asleep. Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle and woke up the driver, Michael J. Miller, 37, of Hanson, KY. He stated that he was tired but could not explain how he ended up in the front yard. A computer check showed that he was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by DuPage County, IL for felony theft. He was arrested. A search revealed that he was in possession of methamphetamine and well as three other controlled substances. Miller was also charged with the drug offenses and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

November 25, 2024
Metropolis Officers received a 911 call that David L. Doublin, 56, of Karnak, was enroute to kill his wife at her place of employment in Metropolis. They were advised that he was armed with a gun. Officers and deputies set up to intercept him. A traffic stop was initiated. Doublin was found to be in possession of a handgun. He was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Use/Possession of a Weapon, and UUW of weapon after being denied a FOID Card. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

November 27, 2024
Cassie D. Smith, 31, of Golconda, was arrested in the parking lot of Huck’s. Smith was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Pope County for Domestic Battery. She was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

November 30, 2024
Metropolis Officers responded to a two vehicle crash on I-24 at milepost 37. One of the occupants, Todd M. Kattenbraker, 48, of Metropolis was found to be wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Perry County, IL for FTA-Driving while license revoked and obstructing Justice. He was lodged in the Massac County detention Center.
