The sheriff’s office says Billy J. Williams was cited for Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer, Attempt to Disarm a Peace Officer, Threatening a Public Official, Resisting a Peace Officer, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon and Aggravated Assault.

Upon release from the hospital, Williams was taken to and lodged in the Williamson County Jail.

Around 5:20 p.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to a report of a domestic battery in the 17000 block of Fowler School Road in Pittsburg. They learned Williams was threatening to kill his neighbor, aggressively slamming items and yelling, and threatening to harm himself and others.

Williams has previously engaged in a extended standoff with law enforcement during which time he deployed an explosive device and fired multiple rounds from a gun.

Minutes later, the first deputy arrived and saw Williams on a minibike not far from his home. The deputy tried to stop Williams, but he fled traveling toward his home where he got off the minibike. Williams then began running toward his home.

The deputy got Williams on the ground and began resisting and screaming saying he was going to kill the deputy. The deputy attempted to handcuff Williams who said he was not going to jail and continued resisting the deputy. Williams continued resisting and fighting the deputy causing him to fall on his back at which time Williams was on top of the deputy. The deputy fought Williams off of him and tried to handcuff him while he continued to resist.

Williams grabbed the deputy’s rifle which was attached by a sling and forced his grip into the trigger housing while trying to gain control of the weapon. The deputy then struck Williams one time in the head with his forearm causing Williams to let go of the grip he had on the weapon allowing the deputy to pin him to the ground. Moments later another deputy arrived and helped place Williams in handcuffs.

A search of Williams’ person found 16 rounds of .22 caliber ammunition in his front right pocket.

Williams was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained while trying to disarm and batter the deputy.
