MARION – The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office recently released the following information. 

Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies recently cited a man for violating a protection order.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, around 6:20 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, deputies responded and spoke to the complainant who stated she is the petitioner of an order of protection listing Brent A. Battles Jr. as the respondent.

A records check confirmed that Battles had been served a copy of the Emergency Order of Protection by Williamson County deputies at 2:20 p.m. that day.

The petitioner advised that around 6:05 p.m. she received a threatening text message from Battles. The petitioner stated she has attempted to block Battles from speaking with her on numerous occasions however, he changes his telephone number to continue messaging her.

An additional complainant who was present stated that at 3:30 p.m. he also received multiple lewd, offensive, and threatening messages from Battles referencing the order of protection.

At 7:35 p.m. deputies made contact with Battles in the 8000 block of Old Route 13 in Marion. Battles was cited for Violation Of an Order of Protection and taken to the Williamson County Jail. While at the jail, Battles was issued the Miranda warning and asked if he would like to discuss the situation.

Battles agreed and stated that he sent the messages to the additional complainant via Facebook messenger but never contacted the petitioner.

Battles suggested deputies access his telephone to verify his statement. Battles then handed his phone to deputies and provided the passcode.

Deputies examined the phone and observed sufficient probable cause to confirm that Battles had violated the Order of Protection.

A man was cited for drug and other offenses after Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies recently saw him commit a traffic violation in the area of Cambria Road and Illinois 149.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday, June 22, deputies stopped, approached, and identified the driver as Billy B. Diuguid at the Casey’s gas station in Hurst.

Deputies checked Diuguid’s driver’s license and discovered that it expired in 2005. Deputies returned to Diuguid’s vehicle, and while speaking to Diuguid, noticed the strong odor of cannabis coming from the vehicle.

Deputies inquired how much cannabis was in the vehicle and Diuguid responded by handing them a glass pipe used for smoking cannabis.

Deputies asked Diuguid to get out of the vehicle and told him that they intended to search the vehicle.

Diuguid stated, “you don’t have to search the vehicle” and further stated he provided deputies with the cannabis pipe.

Diuguid stated, “the only other thing you’re going to find is my weed.” Diuguid then pulled out a clear plastic bag of cannabis.

Diuguid was ordered out of the vehicle and arrested.

A probable cause search of the vehicle located a backpack containing a white crystal-like substance which later field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Diuguid was read his Miranda rights and then asked about the methamphetamine. He stated the backpack, meth, and cannabis was his.

Diuguid was cited for Methamphetamine Possession, Possession of Adult Use Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle, No Valid Driver’s License, and Failure to Wear a Seat Belt.

Diuguid was taken to the Williamson County Jail.

A recent traffic stop by Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies lead to a man being cited for drug offenses.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, on Thursday, June 20, deputies saw a vehicle going west on Madison Street near 23rd Street in Herrin without valid vehicle registration. Deputies stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Kenneth L. Johnson.

While completing the traffic stop, a Herrin Police K9 unit arrived on scene and conducted a free air sniff of the vehicle resulting in a positive alert to the odor of narcotics.

A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted, and deputies recovered methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and a digital scale containing residue which later field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Johnson was cited Methamphetamine Possession, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Expired Registration. He was taken to the Williamson County Jail.

Herrin Police assisted the sheriff’s office in this matter.

A man was recently cited for possessing meth and for motor vehicle violations after Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies saw him on his motorcycle without vehicle registration traveling near the intersection of West Russell Street and South Bush Avenue in Hurst.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, just after 10 p.m. last Monday, they noticed the driver commit several additional motor vehicle violations and was stopped.

Deputies approached the driver, identified as Tony D. Parini, and discovered him to be operating a vehicle without a driver’s license.

Parini was detained and a search of his person located a clear plastic bag containing a white crystalline substance which later field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Parini was cited Methamphetamine Possession, No Valid Driver’s License, Violation Of License Class, Operating Uninsured Vehicle, Improper Display Of Registration, and Motorcycle Eye Protection Violation

Parini was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
