Elsie Madoline York, 99 of McLeansboro, Illinois passed away at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital.  Elsie was the daughter of Bobby and Mabel (Bond) Trout of Dale, Illinois and was born April 24, 1926.

Elsie married Palmer “Clyde” York in Mineral Springs, Texas on September 8, 1945 while he was in the Army.  Clyde preceded her in death on May 13, 2007.

Elsie is survived by a son, Glen (Sharon) York of McLeansboro, Illinois, granddaughter Paula (Mark) Karcher of Missouri, grandson Jeff York of McLeansboro, great grandsons: Justin (Jordan) York of McLeansboro, Jaden (Leah) York of McLeansboro, Josh (Kaylee) Karcher of Missouri, and great granddaughter Ashley (Zach Duncan) Karcher of Missouri.  Great-great granddaughters Jaycee York, Palmer Kate Karcher, Lexus Scott, and Cheyenne Scott also survive.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents Bobby and Mabel Trout, her husband, Clyde York, her brothers: Orlin Trout, Hershel Trout, and Kenneth Trout, her sisters: Effie (Louis) Smith, Dollie (Malchus) Smith, Delsie (Loren) Lynch, and Grace (Johnie) Millenbine.

She was a member of Pleasant Union Church in Blairsville and spent many years helping with church camp.  She enjoyed singing for the Lord.

Funeral services for Elsie Madoline York will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, March 13, 2026 at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with Pastor Jay Vineyard officiating.  Private Family Visitation will be held from 9:00am until 10:00am with public visitation being held on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at noon at the funeral home.  Interment will immediately follow the funeral service at Springer Cemetery in Blairsville, northeast of McLeansboro. Memorial donations may be made to Beaver Creek Cemetery Fund and will be accepted at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
