METROPOLIS – The Metropolis Police Department released the following information on Monday, April 21, 2025.

April 14, 2025

Brandon L. Gilbert, 32, of Metropolis was arrested in the 500 block of Hillcrest. Gilbert was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for FTA-Criminal Trespass to State Supported Property. Gilbert was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

April 15, 2025

A Metropolis officer conducted a traffic stop in the 2200 block of Devers Road. The vehicle had suspended license plates and the driver, Joy L. Skamser, 46, of Vienna had a suspended drivers license. Skamser was charged and released on a notice to appear.

April 17, 2025

Metropolis officers were called to Acee’s Truck Stop for an alternation. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with the victim, an employee that stated that she was involved in an argument with Audrey S. Canty, 51, of Covington, GA, and that Canty pulled a gun out of the vehicle and threatened her. Officer searched the area and located the vehicle the offender left in. The handgun was located inside the vehicle. Canty was charged with Aggravated Assault and released on a notice to appear.

A Metropolis officer conducted a traffic stop on 5th and Main. The driver, Ronald L. Hoyle Jr, 41, of Mayfield, KY, had a suspended drivers license. He was charged and released on a notice to appear.

A Metropolis officer stopped a Ford Mustang for improper lane usage. The driver, stated he was lighting a cigarette and driving with his knees. He could not provide proof of insurance. As the citation was being written, the Metropolis K9 conducted a free air search around the vehicle and alerted numerous times. A search found that Buffy J. Parker, 44, of Metropolis had in her purse four baggies containing methamphetamine as well as drug paraphernalia. Parker was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center. The driver was cited and released for Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.

April 18, 2025

A Metropolis officer observed a pick up truck being operated by Roy S. Johnson, 53, of Cobden, IL. The officer was aware that Johnson had a revoked driver’s license. A traffic stop was conducted at 6th and Metropolis St. Johnson was charged with Driving while License Revoked and Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle. He was released on a notice to appear.

Jason R. Pohlson, 45, of Metropolis was arrested in the 1600 block of East 5th Street, for Violation of an order of protection. Officers were also advised that he was wanted on a warrant issued by Massac County. The warrant was also for Violation of an order of protection. Pohlson was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

April 19, 2025

Jeremy A. Harlan, 40, of Metropolis was arrested on Faughn Drive. Harlan was wanted on a Massac County warrant for Domestic Battery. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Shawn L. Lewis, 42, of Metropolis was arrested in the 500 block of Girard. Lewis was wanted on a warrant. The warrant issued by Massac County was for FTA-Driving while License Suspended. Lewis was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

A Metropolis officer stopped a vehicle on Spence and Alice Street. The driver, Bhodi L. Mason, 42, of Metropolis had a revoked drivers license. Mason was charged and released on a notice to appear.

The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
