METROPOLIS – The Metropolis Police Department released the following information on Monday, February 10, 2025.
January 27, 2025
Metropolis officers were called to the 600 block of East 6th for a disturbance. Michael D. Anderson, 52, of Metropolis was yelling and screaming at people. He was informed multiple times to stop but refused. Neighbors stated that they were afraid and annoyed by his actions. Anderson was charged with Disorderly Conduct and released on a Notice to Appear.
January 28, 2025
Metropolis officers received a report of a subject at Spence Apartments that had been previously trespassed from housing property. Upon arrival, officers located Brandon L Gilbert, 32, of Metropolis sitting in a chair near Building 1. Gilbert had in fact been previously trespassed and was charged with Criminal Trespass to State Supported Property. He was released on a Notice to Appear.
Metropolis Police arrest Kenneth L. Morey, 40, of Bushnell, IL, at Harrah’s. Morey was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Theft. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
January 30,2025
Metropolis officers were called to the 500 block of East 7th. The caller stated that Michael D. Anderson, 52, of Metropolis was on the property after being previously trespassed. Anderson was located on the property and charged with Criminal Trespass to Property. He was released on a Notice to Appear.
February 1, 2025
A Metropolis sergeant conducted a traffic stop on East 5th and Yasoda Street for a defective headlight. A computer check revealed that the driver, Kylee D. Stake, 19, of Greenup, KY, had a suspended driver’s license. She was charged and released on a Notice to Appear.
February 2, 2025
911 received a call of an injured person outside 1909 Ferry St. Upon arrival, officers found the victim covered in blood and a large laceration to his head and injuries to his face. The investigation revealed two subjects had jumped the victim. Shawn P. Walker, 28, of Brookport was located and arrested for Aggravated Battery. The other offender has been identified and a warrant will be issued for his arrest. Walker was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
February 3, 2025
A Metropolis officer observed a vehicle make a traffic violation on Metropolis Street and 17th. A traffic stop was made and while speaking with the driver, Makala A. Harris, 23, of Metropolis, the officer observed a glass smoking pipe. Officers located a blue plastic tube containing 17 pills identified as Benzodiazepine – a Schedule 4 controlled substance – as well as other drug paraphernalia. Harris was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Harris was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
February 4, 2025
A Metropolis officer observed Kenneth L. Mitchell, 43, of Metropolis leaving Huck’s. The officer was aware that Mitchell was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for FTA-Violation of an Order of Protection. When told to stop, Mitchell looked at the officer and took off running. Officers observed him entering a residence on 9th Street. He was found hiding inside the residence. In addition to the warrant, he was charged with Resisting/Obstructing and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Metropolis Police were called to Huck’s. Management stated that a subject refused to leave after being told to repeatedly. Officer observed Christopher Whitnel, 33, of Metropolis on the property. He was advised that the employees wanted him to leave the property. He refused. The officers asked him numerous times to leave or face arrest. He still refused. Whitnel was then advised he was under arrest. He refused to be handcuffed and struggled with the officers. After being taken to the ground, he finally gave up. He was taken to the police department for processing. Whitnel was charged with Criminal Trespass to Property and Resisting Arrest. He was released on a Notice to Appear.
February 6, 2025
Metropolis officers were called to Huck’s for a trespassing complaint. Upon arrival, officers observed Christopher Whitnel, 33, of Metropolis on the property again. He had previously been trespassed and arrested for the same offense. Whitnel was again charged with Criminal Trespass and issued a Notice to Appear.
February 8, 2025
Metropolis officers were called to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the Fairmont Apartments. Upon arrival, officers observed a subject later identified as Danny T. Dale (aka Monti Chello Dale), 39, of Murray, KY, leaving the residence. He was advised to stay but ignored numerous commands to stop and refused to identify himself. Dale then took off running and was caught near Filmore Street. He resisted efforts to handcuff him and a struggle ensued. Dale continued to struggle and yell vulgar insults to the officers. As they were walking towards the parked squad cars, he again pulled away aggressively in the opposite direction. He was taken to the ground. He was warned numerous times that he would be tased if he did not comply. Dale eventually complied and asked us to walk him around to find his phone, which the officer did. He was complaining of knee pain and was taken to Massac Hospital to be evaluated. Officers learned that he had shoved the victim against the wall and was scaring the children in the residence and yelling at them. When she stated she would call the police, he smashed her phone. Dale was arrested and charged with Aggravated Domestic Battery, Resisting Arrest, Interference with 911 call and a Parole Violation warrant out of Kentucky. Dale was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
A Metropolis Officer observed Robert A. Smith, 66, of Metropolis in the driveway at 1901 Filmore. The officer was aware that Smith was wanted on warrants. Two warrants were issued by Massac County for Theft and one from St. Clair County, IL, for Possession of a Controlled Substance. Smith was found to be in possession of fentanyl. Smith was charged and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
