METROPOLIS – The Metropolis Police Department released the following information on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025. 

Jan. 15, 2025

A Metropolis officer stopped a vehicle on U.S. 45 near Woodhaven for weaving out of its traffic lane. The driver, Brandon Lopez, 18, of Paducah had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. The passenger, Chiroy S. Adan, 18, of Paducah also had an odor of alcohol on his breath. He was charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. The driver, Lopez was charged with improper lane usage, zero tolerance and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. They were released to their parents on a notice to appear. 

Metropolis officers were called to O’Reilly’s for a trespassing complaint. Officers located Amber Gilbert, 36, of Metropolis inside the store. Officers had her leave. The officer offered to give her a ride. As he was putting her items in the truck, she tossed a container into her backpack. The container contained methamphetamine. Gilbert was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and released on a notice to appear. She was dropped off at a residence on Catherine Street.

Metropolis officers were called to a trespassing complaint at a residence in the 300 block of East 2nd Street. Upon arrival, officers met with the caller who advised that Amber Gilbert, 36, of Metropolis would not leave and had been previously trespassed. Gilbert was charged with Criminal Trespass and released on a notice to appear.

Jan. 16, 2025 

Brandon L. Gilbert, 32, of Metropolis was arrested on 11th and Ferry Street. Gilbert was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for FTA-Retail Theft. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Patrick A. Keyes, 50, of Massac County was arrested at Huck’s. Keyes was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for FTA-Driving while License Suspended. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Metropolis officers were called by management of Massac Housing reference to a trespassing complaint. Video showed Joshua P. Pannell, 39, of Mt Vernon inside the Humma complex. He had been previously trespassed. A Metropolis officer located him driving and stopped him near Bantera Bank. A compute check showed that he did not have a valid driver’s license. He was arrested for Criminal Trespass to State Supported Property and No Valid Driver’s License. A search revealed that he had drug paraphernalia and white powder that tested positive for fentanyl. Pannell was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance as well as Drug Paraphernalia along with the other charges. He was released on a notice to appear. 

A Metropolis officer stopped an Acura for speeding 64 mph in a posted 45 mph zone on U.S. 45. A computer check on the driver, James V. Rotondi, 59, of Nashville, TN, showed that he had a suspended driver’s license. Rotondi was charged with Speeding and Driving While License Suspended. He was released on a notice to appear.

Jan. 20, 2024  

A Metropolis officer observed a vehicle on Devers Road and he recognized the driver, Jennifer Evans, 43, of Metropolis. The officer was aware that Evans had a suspended driver’s license. A traffic stop was conducted. Evans could not provide proof of insurance. She was charged with Driving while Suspended and Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle. Evans was released on a notice to appear.

Metropolis officers were called to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 800 block of East 6th Street. Officers observed injuries to the victim. Amanda M. Hobbs, 38, of Metropolis was arrested for Domestic Battery. Once told she was under arrest, she attempted to slash her wrists. As she struggled with the officers, she kept intentionally banging her head against the wall. Once outside, she went limp then started banging her head on the porch. She was finally put in the squad car and started banging her head against the cage. She was then transported to Massac Memorial Hospital by ambulance where she kept trying to attack the medics and officer. At the hospital she had to be sedated and then treated for her injuries. Once discharged, she was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center. She was also charged with Resisting Arrest.

A Metropolis officer stopped a Fiat for speeding 88 mph in a posted 70 mph zone in I-24. A computer check on the driver, George N. Ortiz, 26, of Bronx, NY, showed that he had a suspended driver’s license. Ortiz was charged with Speeding and Driving While License Suspended. He was released on a notice to appear.

Jan. 23, 2025

Metropolis officers were advised to look for Randy L Bradley Jr, 33, of Metropolis. Bradley cut off his ankle monitoring bracelet. Officers located him hiding in a refrigerator at a residence in the 1900 block of Ferry Street. Bradley was charged with Criminal Damage to State Supported Property and Escape. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Jan. 24, 2025 

A Metropolis officer observed Brandon E. Parrish, 39, of Metropolis driving an automobile. The officer was aware that Parrish had a suspended driver’s license. A stop was made on Old Marion and Gurley Rd. Parrish was charged and released on a notice to appear.

Jan. 26, 2025

Metropolis officers were called to the 600 block of East 6th for a disturbance. Michael D. Anderson, 52, of Metropolis was yelling and screaming at people. He was informed multiple times to stop but refused. Neighbors stated that they were afraid an annoyed by his actions. Anderson was charged with Disorderly Conduct and released on a notice to appear.   

The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
