METROPOLIS – The Metropolis Police Department released the following information on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025.
December 9, 2024
Metropolis Officers were called to a disturbance in the 1000 block of Metropolis Street. Upon arrival, a Metropolis sergeant learned that the victim had been punched in the face and scratched on the shoulder by Penny M. Bronder, 53, of Metropolis. Bronder was arrested for Domestic Battery and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
December 10, 2024
Metropolis officers were called to the 1100 block of East 7th Street. Officers arrived to find two people fighting inside an automobile. Investigation revealed that the caller had found Timothy E. Stephens, 42, of Brookport, inside his vehicle. When confronted, Stephens began fighting with the victim. Stephens was arrested for Criminal Trespass to Motor Vehicle and was found to be in Possession of Methamphetamine. Stephens was also charged with the possession. Once cleared from the hospital, he was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
A Metropolis Police officer observed Sean Taylor, 46, of Metropolis in the 1300 block of Filmore. The officer was aware that Taylor was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued in Missouri for FTA-Possession of a Controlled Substance. While being searched a clear plastic baggie fell from his right pocket containing Methamphetamine. Taylor advised he did know it was there because these weren’t his pants that he was wearing. Taylor was arrested on the warrant and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine. Taylor was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Makala A. Harris, 23, of Metropolis was arrested on Metropolis Street and Hope Lane. Harris was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for two counts of possession of a controlled substance. She was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
December 15, 2024
A Metropolis officer observed a vehicle leaving Huck’s. The officer recognized the driver, James B. Cannamore, 33, of Metropolis and knew that his driver’s license was revoked. A traffic stop was conducted. Cannamore could not provide proof of insurance. A tow truck was called and a search found a handgun, methamphetamine and syringes/needles. Cannamore admitted that he just put the firearm in the console. Cannamore does not have a valid FOID. The passenger, Gabrielle M. Steinke, 27, of Metropolis, admitted ownership of the drugs. Cannamore was charged with Driving while License Revoked, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, No FOID and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Steinke was charged with Possession of Meth and Drug Paraphernalia. They were both lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
A Metropolis sergeant observed Kyle B. Hurst, 38, of Metropolis walking on 5th Street near Yasoda. The sergeant was aware that Hurst was wanted on warrants. The warrants were issued by Massac County for Burglary and Theft. Hurst was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Clayton A. Williams, 24, of Murray, KY, came to the Metropolis Police Department to pick up his wallet. However, Williams was wanted on a KY warrant for Auto Theft. Clayton was given his wallet, Arrested for the warrant and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
December 24, 2024
A Metropolis officer observed a vehicle pass by him on 5th Street. He recognized the driver, Jason R. Houston, 45, of Mounds from an earlier contact. He knew that Houston had a suspended driver’s license and informed Houston earlier not to drive. A traffic stop was conducted on 5th and Butler. A tow truck was called and a search found an AR15 style rifle and ammo in the trunk. Houston has a revoked FOID. Houston was charged with UUW, Revoked FOID and Driving while Suspended. He was released on a notice to appear.

Justin M. Adams, 43, of Metropolis was arrested in a residence in the Lois Lane Apartments. Adams was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Theft. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
December 28, 2024
Metropolis officers were called to the Family Dollar Store on West 10th. The caller advised that Jason Sullivan, 38, of Metropolis was back in the store after being previously trespassed due to him harassing customers. Upon arrival, Sullivan was charged with Criminal Trespass to Property and released on a Notice to Appear. He was offered services from mental health and he declined any assistance.

A Metropolis officer observed Roy S. Johnson, 52, of Cobden, driving a motor vehicle of East 5th Street and knew from previous contacts that he had a revoked drivers license. A traffic stop was conducted and a computer check confirmed that Johnson was still revoked and that he had a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for FTA-Driving while Revoked. Johnson was arrested on the warrant and also charged with Driving while Revoked and Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
