METROPOLIS – The Metropolis Police Department released the following information on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024.

December 1, 2024
A Metropolis officer on patrol, observed a silver GMC on 10th and Ferry. He recognized the driver, Aimee M. Cochrane, 39, of Metropolis and knew she had a revoked driver’s license. A traffic stop was conducted and a computer check confirmed that her license status was still revoked. She was charged and released on a notice to appear. During the course of the stop, the officer was confronted by Terance C. Moore, 41, of Metropolis who was very belligerent and shouting obscenities towards the officer. He was told numerous times to quit interfering and to leave. Moore refused to stop and was charged with Obstructing a Peace Officer and released on a notice to appear.

December 4, 2024
A Metropolis K9 Officer stopped a vehicle for speeding 44 mph in a posted 30 mph zone on 12th St. The officer finally was able to make a traffic stop as it pulled into the Phillips 66 gas station on 5th. A free air search around the vehicle by K9 Krypto revealed a positive alert. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Dustin L. Babb, 41, of Metropolis was arrested and charged with Speeding, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center pending a pretrial bond hearing.
