MCLEANSBORO – Sharon Russell, age 78, a resident of McLeansboro, IL, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Sharon was born on August 5, 1946, in McLeansboro, IL. She was a daughter of Glendal Poynor and Mabel (Page) Poynor. Sharon married William Lane Russell on March 5, 1966, in Benton, IL.

She was a homemaker and a Baptist by faith. Sharon loved flowers and working in the yard. She enjoyed giving others things with nothing expected in return.

Survivors include her husband, William “Bud” Russell; a son, Scott Russell and wife, Nicole, Ina, IL; and grandchildren, Asher and Abbie Russell of Ina, IL, also survive.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Don Poynor and Robert “Bob” Poynor; and two sisters, Ruth Dye and Shirley Lockwood.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, IL.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, IL, with Pastor Cliff Clark officiating.

Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in McLeansboro, IL.
