CROSSVILLE – White County Sheriff’s deputies took a Crossville man into custody Tuesday on a warrant for Retail Theft.
According to the White County Sheriff’s Office, around 6:20 p.m. deputies went to 105 5th Street in Crossville in reference to a warrant check. Deputies attempted to knock on the front door and saw that it had been kicked in forcefully. They did not receive any word from the resident, 38-year-old Levi J. Crawford, from inside the home.
At this point, Crawford was walking up on the east side of the home. One of the deputies made contact with Crawford and told him why they were speaking to him. The deputy explained to Crawford that he had a White County warrant for Retail Theft under $500 from Maier’s Grocery.
The deputy placed Crawford in handcuffs and took him in custody.
Crawford was taken to the White County Jail where he was released into the custody of correctional officers. Crawford was also provided with a copy of the warrant and its information.
He was giving a pre-trial release per conditions of the warrant.
