WAXAHACHIE, TX – Larry Neal Carpenter, 88, of Waxahachie, Texas, and formally of West Frankfort, passed away on Friday March 15, 2024, in Texas at 10:58 a.m.

He was born in West Frankfort on August 22, 1935, to Cecil and Delores (Downen) Carpenter.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife Sharon, daughter Tammy Shadis, grandson AJ Shadis, brothers-in-law Tim Wilson and Ronald Trusty.

He is survived by his sons Jeff (Sharon) Carpenter and Craig (Tammy) Carpenter; 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, brother Terry (Julie) Carpenter, brothers-in-law Rick (Jackie) Wilson, Brad (Dawn) Wilson, and Neal (Susan) Wilson; sisters-in-law Marsha Wilson and Carolyn Trusty, several nieces and nephews.  

Services will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort with Rev. Cameron Trusty officiating.

Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 1961 of Orient and Zeigler Post 177.

Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
