BENTON – A Zeigler man was sentenced Friday in Franklin County Court to 112 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child.

According to Franklin County State’s Attorney Abby Dinn, she argued in favor of the maximum sentence possible for 33-year-old Allen Farris – 120 years.

After commenting on the seriousness of the offenses, the harm that was threatened on the victim, Farris’ criminal history and character, Judge Thomas Tedeschi sentenced Farris to separate 28-year sentences on each of the four separate counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child. The sentences will be served consecutively to one another, meaning that, beginning with the first count, the defendant will serve the sentence on each count in its entirety before beginning the sentence on the next count.  The sentences will be followed by a term of mandatory supervised release – otherwise known as parole – for 3 years to life.

The case was investigated by the Department of Children and Family Services and the Illinois State Police and prosecuted by State’s Attorney Abby Dinn.
