BENTON – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Benton man Wednesday for allegedly making a threat to an Illinois Department of Children and Family Services employee.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Kyle Bacon, 33-year-old Shawn R. Gilbreath was placed under arrest and charged with two counts of Threatening a Public Official – a Class 3 felony. He is lodged in the Franklin County Jail.

Sheriff Bacon says the threat was in relationship to an ongoing investigation being completed by the agency.

Sheriff’s detectives immediately began investigating the threat and soon located Gilbreath. He was then arrested, charged and taken to jail.
