METROPOLIS – The Metropolis Police Department released the following information on Monday, Dec. 18, 2023.

December 4, 2023

Metropolis officers were called to the Spence Apartments for a trespassing complaint. The Massac County Housing Authority employee stated that he observed Darrell M. McCoy, 60, of Metropolis on housing property and that McCoy had trespassed. Officers located McCoy and he was charged with Criminal Trespass to State Supported Property. He was released on a notice to appear.

December 6, 2023

A Metropolis officer on patrol observed Robert H. Bowling, 45, of Metropolis, smoking a cigarette outside an apartment on Lois Lane. The officer was aware that Bowling was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Failure to Appear on a Theft charge. Bowling was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

December 9, 2023

Chelsea D. Word, 32, of Metropolis, was arrested at Casey’s General Store on West 10th Street. Word was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Failure to Appear – Driving while License Suspended. Word was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

December 10, 2023

A Metropolis Officer stopped a gold Chevrolet SUV for speeding on 12th Street near Commercial Drive. A computer check revealed that the driver, Aaron L. Brian, 32, of Metropolis, had a suspended drivers license. Brian also could not show proof of insurance. Brian was charged and released on a notice to appear.

December 11, 2023

A Metropolis officer stopped a gold colored Mercury on U.S. 45 and the Massac Creek bridge. The Mercury had expired registration. A computer check showed the driver, Kiera D. Johnson, 25, of Chicago did not have a valid driver’s license. Johnson was charged and released on a notice to appear.

December 14, 2023

Amanda S. Greenfield, 45, of Joppa was arrested for theft over $500 at the Holiday Inn Express. Metropolis officers investigating the theft of a laptop that FedEx had delivered to the hotel, obtained video of Greenfield and another male stealing the laptop. Greenfield was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center. Investigation is continuing with good leads as to the identity of the male suspect. Warrants are expected.

A Metropolis officer stopped a gold colored Jeep Cherokee for a Scott’s Law violation on U.S. 45 near I-24. A computer check on the driver, Jenifer L. Boyd, 39, of Paducah, KY revealed that she had a suspended driver’s license. Boyd was charged and released on a notice to appear.

December 15, 2023

A Metropolis Officer observed Steven R. Garner, 64, of Metropolis driving a red Ford on West 10th Street. The officer was aware that Garner had a suspended driver’s license. A traffic stop was conducted and a computer check confirmed that Garner’s license was still suspended. Garner was charged and released on a notice to appear.

A Metropolis Officer stopped a red Chevrolet Pick-up truck on East 5th and Girard which was displaying passenger car plates. The registration came back to a Hyundai. A computer check on the driver, Ryan M. Staton, 42, of Flora, IL showed that he had a revoked driver’s license and was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Clay County, IL for failure to appear on a felony charge. Staton was charged with Improper Use of Registration, Driving while License Revoked (DUI), Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Illegal Transportation of Cannabis. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
