CARBONDALE – Two Carbondale men were lodged in the Jackson County Jail following a Friday afternoon home invasion in the 700 block of West College Street.
The Carbondale Police Department says around 3:30 p.m., officers responded to the scene regarding a report of two suspicious men outside a home. One was reportedly armed with a handgun.
Officers located two men matching the descriptions of the suspects and detained them without incident. In the course of the investigation, officers arrested 18-year-old Vernell, J. Lollar of Carbondale for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon after he was found to be in possession of a handgun. He was also charged with Home Invasion after it was learned that he unlawfully entered a home and threatened the resident with a firearm. The second man, 18-year-old Tyrez J.T. Gails of Carbondale, was arrested for a valid Jackson County Failure to Appear Warrant on a prior arrest for Resisting a Peace Officer.
After consulting with the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office, Lollar and Gails were lodged in the Jackson County Jail. No one was injured in the incident.
Carbondale Police continue to investigate.
