CARMI – Authorities are saying foul play is not suspected in the death of a person found dead Wednesday night in a Carmi shed.
According to the White County Coroner’s Office, they responded around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to the discovery of a body found in a shed. The body had reportedly been there for a while and was unidentifiable.
Officials say it appeared the person had been sleeping in that spot with a pillow and blanket. Police had previously responded to the shed for a squatter who was reportedly sleeping there.
The body was transported to Champaign Friday for an autopsy and DNA test to help identify the body and notify next of kin.
Authorities say results of the autopsy should answer some questions, but at this time the death does not appear to have been the result of foul play.
