PADUCAH – The National Weather Service in Paducah has extended the Excessive Heat Warning through 10 p.m. Friday for our area. It was originally set to expire at 10 p.m. Thursday.

Dangerously hot conditions will continue with heat index values up to 115 expected.

Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities. So take the necessary precautions if you have to be outside like rescheduling strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. Schedule frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
