SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – Strong storms rolled through our area Saturday evening bringing with them high winds that knocked down trees, large tree limbs and power lines that caused several areas to be without power into Sunday.

According to storm reports from the National Weather Service Office in Paducah, much of Perry County lost power due to power lines and poles being down across the county. A tree was down on a house in Du Quoin. Power outages were reported in White County and Franklin County.

In Franklin County, a tree was down on a van and camper in Thompsonville.

In Jackson County, road signs were reported blown across the road in Murphysboro. There were also multiple trees and large tree limbs down across Murphysboro, some on cars and several structures. A tree was down on the road in a park near Gorham.

In Wayne County, a tree was down on a barn in Wayne City.                                                    

In Williamson County, large trees were down in Carterville with winds estimated at 70 to 80 mph. Large tree limbs were down at Crab Orchard Campground in Crainville.

In Massac County a large tree was down in Joppa. A wind gust of 54 mph was reported at Round Knob.

In Gallatin County, a large tree was down on the road in Shawneetown. There was minor wind damage to a canopy near Ridgway.
