
MARION – A man was cited for drug and gun offenses after being arrested by the Williamson County Sheriff’s office at a traffic stop Thursday night on an outstanding arrest warrant for Domestic Battery.
The sheriff’s office says deputies noticed the man, identified as Wallace R. Payton, Jr., standing near fuel pumps in the 900 block of South Court Street in Marion around 7:30 Thursday night.
Payton Jr. got in the vehicle at the gas pump and left prior to being contacted. Deputies followed his vehicle and conducted a traffic stop a short distance later. Payton Jr. was then arrested on the warrant.
While being handcuffed, Payton Jr. said he had something in his pockets.
A search of Payton Jr. incident to arrest located Methamphetamine, Cannabis, “Brass Knuckles,” and Drug Paraphernalia on his person.
He was cited for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Adult Use Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
Payton Jr. was taken to and remanded into the custody of the Williamson County Jail.
