MARION – A man was arrested on drug charges Saturday night after Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies saw a vehicle being driven by someone known to have several outstanding arrest warrants.
According to the sheriff’s office, around 6:20 p.m., deputies approached the vehicle as it came to rest in a residential driveway and intercepted the driver who attempted to travel toward the home.
The driver, identified as Keith E. Horton, was taken into custody on two active arrest warrants for failure to appear in court for Methamphetamine Possession and Use of Account Number or Code with bond amounts totaling $30,000.
When asked, Horton stated that his cousin lived at the home he was attempting to approach. Deputies contacted the residents of the home who stated no one there knew who Horton was and they wanted his vehicle removed.
Horton asked deputies to retrieve his cell phone and cigarettes from his vehicle. While retrieving these items at Horton’s request, deputies saw a quarter pound of Methamphetamine and 20 tablets of Lorazepam 0.5mg., a Schedule 4 Controlled Substance in plain view.
Horton was cited for Methamphetamine Delivery 100<500 grams (Class X Felony), Methamphetamine Possession 100<500 grams (Class X Felony) and Possession of Controlled Substance (Class 4 Felony).
Horton was served a Notice of Asset Forfeiture, provided a hearing date, and advised that the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office intends to seize a 2005 Dodge Dakota pickup truck based on its use by him in the furtherance of the drug trade.
Horton was transported to and remanded into the custody of the Williamson County Jail.
