HARRISBURG – A Harrisburg woman tried to rob the Woodforest National Bank inside the Harrisburg Walmart Thursday.

The Harrisburg Police Department says a bank teller called Saline County Central Dispatch saying the woman walked into the bank and passed a note to the teller demanding $45,000 and indicating to the teller that “this is a stick up.” Officers were then called to the bank.

While officers were on their way to the bank, they learned that the woman had left Walmart. Officers arrived in the area and located a suspect matching the description provided by the teller.

Officers contacted the woman and identified her as 52-year-old Gwendolyn Breckenridge of Harrisburg. Breckenridge was detained while officers investigated. Officers spoke with witnesses and collected the notes passed by the suspect, who witnesses confirmed was Breckenridge.

Breckenridge was arrested and taken to the Saline County Detention Center where she was released to the custody of correctional officers. She was informally charged with Attempted Robbery.
