
MT. VERNON – Ten local high school graduates from the Class of 2023 and one current college student have their sights set on a career in health care and the SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital – Mt. Vernon Auxiliary and Foundation are proud to financially support their college education by awarding them scholarships.
The 2023 awardees include:
- Ashlyn Carson, Salem Community High School, will be attending the University of Illinois to study Pediatric Psychiatry. She is the recipient of the Warren/Holler Memorial Scholarship.
- Addilyn Krueger, Benton Consolidated High School, will be attending the University of Southern Indiana to study as a physician assistant.
- Kamree Koester, Benton Consolidated High School, will be attending Rend Lake College to study nuclear medicine.
- Kaelee Karcher, Hamilton County High School, will be attending Southeast Missouri State University to study pharmacy.
- Jude Eramus, Mt. Vernon Township High School, will be attending the University of Illinois to study nephrology.
- Alexandra Kolts, Hamilton County High School, will be attending Murray State University, to study physical therapy.
- Isaak Williams, Salem Community High School, will be attending the University of Illinois, to study dentistry and orthodontics.
- Macey Bazaillion, Waltonville High School, will be attending Rend Lake College, to study dentistry.
- Caden Robinson, Murphysboro High School, will be attending Southern Illinois University Carbondale, to study as a physician.
- Bridget Kash, Rend Lake College, will be attending Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, to study nursing. She is the recipient of The Peg Edwards Memorial Scholarship.
- Sierra Hiestand is currently attending Maryville University studying to be a nurse practitioner. She is the recipient of the Dr. Jean M. Modert Memorial Scholarship.
Scholarship winners and their parents attended a recognition dinner at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital that was held on May 23.
