MARION – State Senator Dale Fowler (R-Harrisburg) recently welcomed nearly 30 members from the trucking industry as a part of his annual Trucking Advisory held at 17th Street Barbeque each year.
“We had a great turnout and a very engaging group of those in the trucking profession to provide them an update on legislation that passed this year so they are able to stay up to date on important laws that may impact them,” said Senator Fowler.
Speakers at this year’s event were Matt Hart from the Illinois Trucking Association, Carrie Nelson from the Illinois Department of Transportation, and Captain Anderson and Master Sergeant Armstrong from Illinois State Police.
“These are the industry experts and so it is a great opportunity to get everyone in one room, and provide them with an update, clear up any questions they may have, but also hear any concerns so we’re able to go back to Springfield and craft legislation to better help these folks,” concluded Senator Fowler.
More than 15 different trucking companies were on hand at the event. Representatives from Rend Lake College, Southeastern Illinois College, Shawnee Community College, and Southern Illinois University also attended.
