MARION – The Marion Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire with entrapment early Tuesday morning at 1313 West Cherry Street.

According to Marion Fire Chief Tim Barnett, when firefighters arrived around 5:40 a.m., they were met with heavy fire conditions coming from the second floor bedroom area.

Firefighters entered the home to conduct a primary search and no victims were found. A secondary search was completed immediately following. Firefighters extinguished the fire on the second floor where there was major fire damage.

The Marion Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Marion Police Department, Herrin Fire Department, United Ambulance Service and Ameren Illinois.
