METROPOLIS – The following information was released by the Metropolis Police Department on Monday, April 17, 2023.

April 10, 2023
Metropolis officers received information from the management of Family Dollar store of a person using counterfeit $100 bills. Information was that they had used the counterfeit money in Vienna, IL and may head down this way. Officers were then informed that they had passed one at the Family Dollar. A Massac County deputy went to look for the vehicle, while MPD officers went to Family Dollar to get more information. A traffic stop on the vehicle was conducted when it was located in the 600 block of W. 10th. Investigation revealed that the suspects used counterfeit $100 bills at Big John’s and Dollar General as well. Lanaeja D. Carter, 22, of Urbana and Jasmine D. Roach, 32, of Champaign, IL were charged with Theft and Forgery. They were lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

April 14, 2023
A Metropolis corporal stopped a blue Mazda on U.S. 45 and Devers that had cut off a semi while turning. A computer check revealed that the registration was suspended due to a mandatory insurance violation. A check on the driver, Kevin E. Partain, 35, of Brookport, IL revealed that his driver’s license was suspended. Partain could not provide proof of insurance. Partain was arrested and charged with Driving while Suspended, Operation of a Motor Vehicle with Suspended Registration and Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle. Partain was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Metropolis officers were called to a disturbance at the Humma Apartments on E. 3rd Street. Upon arrival, officers made contact with William C. Jackson, 62, of Metropolis. Jackson had been previously been trespassed from Massac County Housing. Jackson was arrested for Criminal Trespass to Property and was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

April 15, 2023
Curtis W. Whited, 43, unknown address, was arrested at 11th and Ophia. Whited was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for FTA-Criminal Trespass to Property. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Emily N. Holland, 29, unknown address, was arrested at 11th and Filmore. Holland was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for FTA- Domestic Battery. She was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

April 16, 2023
Craig L. Montgomery, 32, of Metropolis was observed by a Metropolis officer at the Spence Apartments. Montgomery had been previously trespassed by Massac County Housing. Montgomery was also wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for violation of an order of protection. Montgomery was arrested on the warrant and also charged with Criminal Trespass to State Supported property. Montgomery was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
