CAVE-IN-ROCK – Due to high winds, the Cave-in-Rock Ferry is temporarily closed due to high winds. The ferry halted service just before 9 Monday morning.

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet office in Paducah, winds are out of the west at about 20 miles per hour with gusts to 35 mph. When the wind is out of the west or southwest it can interact with the river current to create hazardous river conditions.

The ferry will remain closed until winds drop and river conditions improve.

The Cave-in-Rock Ferry will provide timely notice when the ferry is able to resume operation.

The Cave-In-Rock Ferry connects Kentucky 91 with Illinois 1 across the Ohio River between Crittenden County, KY, and Hardin County, IL.

The ferry normally starts service at 6:00 a.m. 7 days a week. The last run from the Illinois landing is at 9:40 p.m. The last run from the Kentucky landing is at 9:50 p.m.
