PADUCAH – The Cave-in-Rock Ferry is temporarily closed due to high winds.

The ferry halted service about 10:10 a.m.

Winds were out of the west-southwest at 29 miles per hour with gusts to 45 mph. From that direction, the wind interacts with current in the Ohio River to create hazardous conditions. The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory through 3 p.m., CST, today. Winds are expected to continue to be gusty into the evening hours.

The Cave-in-Rock Ferry will provide timely notice when the ferry is able to resume operation.
