SPRINGFIELD – Earlier this month, Governor JB Pritzker signed the Protect Illinois Communities Act, banning the sale and distribution of assault weapons, high-capacity magazines, and switches in Illinois, effective immediately. Within days of Pritzker signing the legislation, at least three lawsuits were filed challenging it in state and federal courts.

State Rep. Dave Severin (R-Benton) Monday filed legislation that would repeal that act.

Severin says House Bill 1564 is another piece to use in working toward what really needs to be done in the state of Illinois.
