SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Franklin, Hamilton, Jackson Jefferson, Perry and Wayne counties from 6 this evening to noon Wednesday.

Heavy wet snow with total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches is expected.

Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning commute.

Winds will be rather strong and gusty. The combination of gusty winds and heavy wet snow could stress power lines.

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect from 6 this evening until noon Wednesday for Alexander, Gallatin, Johnson, Pope, Pulaski, Saline, Union, Williamson and White counties.

Wet snow is expected with total snow accumulations of up to two inches. Winds will be gusting as high as 30 mph. 

Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute Wednesday. Slow down and use caution while traveling. 

Massac County is not included in any winter storm watch or warning according to the National Weather Service.
