MARION – Williamson County State’s Attorney Marcy Cascio-Hale says she plans to appeal a decision by the Williamson County Board of Elections to have her name taken off the November 8 ballot.
Cascio-Hale became State’s Attorney following the resignation of Brandon Zanotti a few months ago.
On Wednesday, the Board voted 2 to 1 on a petition filed by the Williamson County Republican Party last week.
The petition alleged that Cascio-Hale, a Democrat, didn’t meet the eligibility requirements to appear on the November 8 ballot because she failed to complete filing documents as prescribed by Illinois Law. It also alleged that her party lacked standing to caucus her to the ballot because it happened after the primary election and prior to the county convention; a time period which prohibits caucusing people to the ballot.
