MURPHYSBORO – A West Frankfort man is facing charges in a Jackson County homicide investigation.

The Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office in January of this year filed a four-count information with the Jackson County Circuit Clerk charging 44-year-old Michael Lee Moore of West Frankfort with first-degree murder and aggravated domestic battery in the case involving 41-year-old Robin Renee Williams of West Frankfort. Moore was a known associate of Williams. A Jackson County arrest warrant was issued for Moore in the amount of $1.2 million. Carbondale Police detectives traveled to Florida and arrested Moore, who was incarcerated there on an unrelated charge in Indian River County.

On May 20, 2021, the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office presented the case to a Grand Jury, who returned an indictment charging Moore with all counts.

Moore remains incarcerated in Florida. His bond remains set at $1.2 million. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office will be notified by Florida authorities when Moore is able to be brought back to Illinois for prosecution.

Carbondale Police say the Williams case began as a missing person case last September after her body was found in an abandoned house in the 600 block of East Park Street. An autopsy determined that Williams’ death was a homicide. Investigators also collected DNA evidence. Police identified Moore as a suspect in the case.
