Waltonville Couple Back in Jefferson County Jail on Drug-related Charges

MT. VERNON – A Waltonville couple are back in the Jefferson County Jail following the execution of a search warrant Tuesday at a home on Illinois Highway 148.

The arrests of 48-year-old Rhett L. Sloan and 47-year-old Maranda K. Sloan came as the result of the Mt. Vernon Police Department/Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, assisted by the Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit, served a search warrant for illegal drugs at 8897 E. Illnois 148 in rural Waltonville.

The result of the search was contraband being located and seized. Rhett Sloan was charged with aggravated possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver between 5-15 grams, possession of drug equipment, and possession of a weapon by a felon.

Maranda Sloan was charged with possession of drug equipment and obstruction of justice/destruction of evidence.

Both were taken to the Jefferson County Jail with bail remaining to be set. The couple were previously arrested on similar charges under search warrant executions in July 2019 and then again in January 2020.
