Two Southern Illinois Teens Hit Cop with Car, Lead Police on Chase That Ends with Arrests

HERRIN – Two Southern Illinois teenagers have been arrested after allegedly hitting a police officer with a car and then leading police on a high-speed chase.

Media reports say Herrin police received a call late Friday evening about the teens causing a disturbance in Herrin, and the complainant told police the teens were threatening to kill her.

Officers arrived and the teens, according to the report, put their vehicle in reverse and hit a patrol vehicle, then put their car in drive and hit an officer, injuring his ankle, with the teens driving away.

The teens, later identified as 18-year-old Kristie L. Cheatham of Carterville, IL and 18-year-old Kaley A. Wilson of Herrin, IL, face several traffic and drug charges.
