CARMI – A Granite City man was sentenced in White County Court Monday to prison on a meth charge.
According to White County State’s Attorney Denton Aud, 41-year-old Jason Hillmer will spend four years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for Possession of Methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony.
Aud says Hillmer had previously been placed on probation in October of 2020 after being arrested by the Carmi Police Department. However, after failing to comply with the conditions of probation, his probation was revoked with a new sentence imposed Monday.
Also on Monday, a Carmi woman was sentenced in White County Court to three years and six months in prison for Identity Theft, a Class 3 felony.
Thirty-seven-year-old Nina L. Hankins had previously been placed on probation in June 2020 following an investigation by the White County Sheriff’s Department.
Aud says Hankins admitted in June of 2022 to having violated the terms of her probation with a contested sentencing hearing set for Monday, Sept. 12.
After both the State and defense had called witnesses and argued sentencing alternatives, Judge T. Scott Webb imposed the sentence to the Illinois Department of Corrections.
