MT. VERNON – Two people were arrested at a Mt. Vernon home on meth charges Wednesday.

Mt. Vernon Police and members of the MVPD/Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Joint Narcotics Unit served a search warrant at 1624 North 17th Street. The narcotics unit had developed information indicating illegal narcotics were being sold from the residence resulting in a Jefferson County search warrant being issued.

The resident, 54-year-old Alan R. Schuster, was arrested on charges of aggravated possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver 15 to 100 grams and possession of drug equipment.

While law enforcement was still at the home they made contact with two subjects in a vehicle who had pulled up to the home. As a result 34-year-old Jermaine T. Brown was found in possession of methamphetamine for delivery. Brown was taken into custody for aggravated possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver 15 to 100 grams.

Both are lodged in the Jefferson County Justice Center awaiting their first court appearance.
