Two Men Sentenced in in Unrelated Cases in White County Wednesday

CARMI – Two Carmi men were sentenced in White County Court in Carmi Wednesday in unrelated cases.

According to White County State’s Attorney Denton Aud, 40-year-old Jesse G. Stephens of Carmi was sentenced to 18 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, a Class 1 felony.

Stephens will also serve one year of mandatory supervised release after his time in prison.

Stephens was also sentenced to 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, a Class 3 Felony.

Aud says Stephens was arrested in January by the Carmi Police Department on an outstanding warrant. Upon being arrested, he was found to be in possession of a firearm and over 50 grams of methamphetamine.

Twenty-nine-year-old Travis C.K. Gill of Carmi was sentenced to three years and six months in the Illinois Department of Corrections for Unlawful Violation of Order of Protect, a Class 4 felony.

Gill will also serve four years of mandatory supervised release after his time in prison.

Aud says Gill was arrested in July by the Carmi Police Department.
